Movie day - STICK IT!

What is this movie about?

The movie is about a girl that committed a crime and instead of going to jail she decided to go to a gymnastics school;  at beginning she didn't want to do anything, but then she begins to be more competitive and perfectionist; so  much so, that she got selected to represent the team in the nationals with 3 other girls. The judges were unfair, so they decided to control the grades and decided how was going to win.

Why is the girl (main character) very rebelious?

Because she doesn't want to be in the gymnastic classes, and the couch was very strict.  she doesn't like to follow instructions and she did whatever she wanted to do.

Why did she walk out of the World Championship?

Because she saw her father kiss another lady when she was preforming, so that was very touching for her.

During their exhibition meet, the girls get mad at the judges because they take off points. Why did they take points off?

They took off a lot of points off just because of ridiculous things like one girl did a triple jump and it was perfect and they put a very low grade just because they saw a little part of her bra.

What do you think about the girls' plan to give the gold medal to the ones they think are the best?

That was very clever of them, and it was really good because they controlled who was going to win.

How did this movie make you feel?

It make me feel relly good and it's weird but I wanted to exercise.

What did you like the most?

My favorite part was the championship and when they began to make planes to control the winers and the loosers. Also, I enjoyed all the rutines.

Who would you like to show this movie?

I would love to show this movie to my mom because she loves waching movies and this particular one, she is gonna like a lot.

Volleyball Camp - Interview

What did you like the most about this camp?

I really enjoyed this camp because I played my favorite sport and I did exercise that is good for my health and I like that.

What did you like the least about it?

I din't like that it was start all over again, because a lot of kids had never played volleyball.

Tell us about your coaches. How were they? How much did you like them?

I really like them, they were SO cool, and they were very approachabe, and during the class they corrected us (like in our positions) and thell us how to do it correctly. And I have to tell you that my coach looks exactly like Michael Phelps and he is so funny!

Choose two of your classmates and tell us a couple of things about them. It can be something about them, or something they did during camp.

Well there are 2 girls that are unforgettable, the first one, Reya (Mireya) told us the worst Knock Knock jokes in the entire world!!! and the second one is Denise, and she threw up and the poor coaches had to clean up all the mess.

Would you recommend this camp to other kids?

Yes, I will recomend this camp to other kids that want to learn how to play volleyball in an easy way.

What would you change if you were in charge of the camp?

I would let the kids make their own team, have more challenges, and extend the camp for 1 more week.

Ingrid was really good, and each time she hit the ball, the group of parents that were watching clappend and exclaimed: GOOD JOB! NICE SHOT! and many other praises. I was the proud aunt, of course!

Athletic, cool, natural volley player AND pretty!!!
This girl has EVERYTHING!
:)

Coach: "I'm going to give a diploma to the girl who has travel the farthest to get to this camp. Maybe you don't know, but she's here for the summer, and she privileged us with her company and great sports ability." ( Guess who I'm talking about? anyone?)

Recipe of the week - PIZZA!

We spent some time at the Thorntons, where Lisa gave us a recipe for pizza, and we each made our own.

Here's the recipe... you can half it if you don't want two large pans of pizza; otherwise, the recipe is as follows:

  • 5 Cups Flour
  • 2 Tsp. Sugar
  • 2 Tsp. Salt
  • 2 packages of Rapid Active Dry Yeast
  • 2 cups hot water (not piping hot... just hot from the tap)
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Little amount of flour if needed to roll dough or if it is sticky
Starting with the first ingredients, add everyting to a bowl, and kneed it until it becomes a dough. A blender can be used, with the bread kneeding accesory. Let it rest for about 10 minutes.

Add toppings Spray pan with cooking spray and form rounds or a sheet Oven set at 425 and bake for 18-20 minutes.

Recipe of the week - Little Cocktail!

The most refreshing beverage for warm days (except for the sugar cane beverage Ingrid has tasted).

Ingredients:
  • Cranberry pomegranate light juice, not sugar added
  • Orange juice, pulp free
  • Light ginger ale
  • Ice cubes
  • Tall glass
Throw 3-4 ice cubes in the glass. Pour the Cranberry-Pomegranate juice, upt to a third of the glass. Do the same with the orange juice, and fill up to the top with the Ginger Ale. Slowly mix, so the ginger ale doesn't bubble out of the glass.

ENJOY!!!

Super Saturday

What classes did you take and how you liked the activities?

I took "How to make sushi (it's really easy!) with Natalie"

I also took a camera class with the elementary functions:

and I helped Nicole (the pizza teacher) to do a sample pizza.

How did you like the people?

All the women were very nice to me and they like the fact that I come from Mexico.

What was your favorite thing of the day?

My favorite class was the Sushi class, because I learned how to cook a new dish. (:

Final thoughts about the Stop Motion class

In a few words describe how you feel about the finished product of your class, and also let us know about how the class could improve if you were the one responsible for it.

I finished the course with a good feeling all over, because all the guys in the class enjoyed our movie and I feel proud that I made that movie.

And if I could be the teacher I will put more attention on the behavior of the guys and teach more so I could be sure that the guys learn everything.

*Notes From The V:
I don't know about anybody else, but I think this is AMAZING! Ingrid didn't have the best environment because she was with younger kids who were a bit (*ahem!) challenging, a not very cooperative partner, AND it was hot and stuffy in the room. Still, she managed to produce MOVIES! in ONE WEEK! I'm sorry, I just need to say that this girl is AWESOME!
